Bring Sunshine to Your Diet: SunnyChoice Vegetarian

I’m not a complete vegetable, sorry I mean vegetarian, but I like to eat vegetables and occasionally I will have full vegetarian meals because having too much meat in the diet just makes me feel bloated. Usually I will have the typical and economical vegetarian beehoon for breakfast, but as a treat, we would go to Sunnychoice and enjoy a real vegetarian meal.

The Bah Kut Teh is my favourite item on the menu. It is savoury, sweet and fragrant. It is not very peppery like the Teochew Bah Kut Teh and more reminiscent of the herbal Bah Kut Teh that you can find in Kluang, Malaysia, and it is the herbal flavour that makes it sooooo good.

Usually we would order just the Bah Kut Teh but, for a change, we ordered the the Rojak and also Nasi Lemak.

The rojak is super good and the bonus is that it is 100% vegetarian so there is no hei bi (dried shrimp) for those with seafood sentivities.

The Nasi Lemak is very lemak (fragrant) but it does look a little boring. Taste is good but I’ll stick to the Bah Kut Teh.

I really recommend Sunnychoice for at least one meal a week. It is not cheap or economical but compared with regular restaurants, I’d rather spend the same amount of money on healthier food. As most vegetarian diets have way too much tofu, gluten and carbs, eating too much will make you feel bloated. But at Sunnychoice you get fresh vegetables prepared in a natural way and no mock-anything. I’m so against mock meat or mock anything it turns me off the meal when I see it. Because if it is gonna be vegetarian, I don’t want anything to remind me of meat and it doesn’t even taste remotely like meat anyway. After a meal at Sunnychoice, I always feel really good physically because it is usually prepared with a large variety of fruits and vegetables that come together in harmony. In fact, it is so delicious you might not even miss bacon or steak.
