Another free amigurumi pattern because I have so much more time that I don’t know what to do. This is a simple cute coin pouch in the shape of a backpack, great as a back-to-school gift for a child you love.

The final backpack is around 6cm width, 8.5cm height, and a depth of 3cm.

Choose yarns of two color that goes well together. I repurposed the cute ice-cream zipper from an old school bag so that determined the pink and light greenish-blue colors that I used in the designs.

Backpack Amigurumi

Base of the backpack in First color of your choice, I used the light greenish-blue color here.

• Turn, from 3rd stitch going around the chain: 1sc x 8, 2sc, 1sc x 8, 2sc

• 2sc, 1sc x 8, 2sc x 3, 1sc x 8, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc

• 2sc, 1sc x 9, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 9

• 2sc, 1sc x 2, 2sc x 2, 1sc x 9, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc

• 1sc, 2sc x 2, 1sc x 10, 2sc x 2, 1sc x 3, 2sc x 2, 1sc x 9, 2sc x 2

• 1sc x 41 in the inside loops

• Continue in rounds for the next 8 rows, 1sc x 41

Top of the Backpack

Top of backpack, using yarn in the second color (I’m using pink), make two:

• Ch 7

• From 3rd stitch, going around the chain: 1sc x 4, 2sc, 1sc x 4, 2sc

• 1sc x 4, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 4, 2sc

• 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 5, 2sc, 1sc x2, 2sc, 1sc x 4, 2sc

• Turn (we were going round the chain in 1 direction, now we turn back) ch1, from 3rd stitch 1sc x 4, 2sc x 2, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 5, 2sc

• Turn, ch1, from 3rd stitch 1sc x 5, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 2, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 6, 2sc

• Turn, ch1, from 3rd stitch 1sc x 5, 2sc, 1sc x 2, 2sc, 1sc x 4, 2sc, 1sc, 2sc, 1sc x 5, 3sc

• 1sc x 8 along bottom, 3sc

This section is bent inwards slightly to support the zipper:

Bag straps

Make two of these and attach to the bag.

Finally assemble the pieces and sew on the zipper. You can also sew on a cute face if you like!
