Don’t Panic! Everything Under the Singapore Sun is Just Going Through A Name Change!
The pandemic has disrupted so much of our lives, including this blog. What started off as a blog about exploring Singapore and beyond, with my family is just not very feasible in the pandemic era where our lives have become hermit-like. However, you know the saying, when life gives you lemons… blah blah blah.
Actually it was a no-brainer for me to pivot to sustainability because I have been very passionate about this topic for a long time, even before climate change was a thing. The pandemic really just made me think about writing other things close to my heart, and also relatable to the current situation. You may have discovered a couple of blogs I wrote were already based on this like this long article about my journey with a very intimate object, or this about growing and keeping green things alive at home.
What is Sustainability?
I define it as two broad things: Sustainable for the planet and, by extension, our living, and sustainable for our wallets.
The Challenge
Living in a metropolitan city has different challenges to a normal sustainable living elsewhere. Many of us live in HDBs and apartments and we have space constraints. We also have all the conveniences of a very integrated commercial infrastructure that I find hard to give up and make sustainable choices.
It is a Journey Rather Than a Destination
I am no where near the perfect sustainable lifestyle that I want to have, but this blog is now all about the exploration of being sustainable in a country like Singapore.
Ultimately, hopefully the switch from Everything Under the Singapore Sun to Sustainable Singapore will inspire many of you to also make little, sustainable changes of your own and be a Sustainable Singaporean too!
(In case you’re worried, all my previous Everything Under the Singapore Sun articles which so many of you found useful would still be around.)
